As the REEdI project continues to reshape engineering education in Ireland, its innovative approach has naturally expanded into a number of complementary initiatives. These additional projects extend REEdI’s core mission to scale education, innovation, and public engagement into new domains. These projects reflect REEdI’s commitment to inclusion, impact, and real-world relevance, beyond the classroom and into the heart of community and industry.

STEAM Powered Action for Sustainable Futures
Real-life strategy to reach your goals.
The STEAM Powered Action for Sustainable Futures project is an initiative led by REEdI at MTU in collaboration with IKC3 and funded by Research Ireland. Its goal is to help local communities and not-for-profit groups develop practical, creative responses to sustainability challenges using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
The project is structured around three phases: public consultations to gather local views, LEGO Serious Play workshops to explore ideas in a hands-on way, and the creation of a STEAM Strategies Booklet to share the solutions developed. By combining these steps, it aims to ensure that the strategies reflect real community priorities and support more sustainable local action.

ReSHAPE
ReSHAPE, a collaborative project between MTU, TUS and UL, is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund Programme 2021-2027. It aims to support workers and communities most negatively impacted by the transition to a low carbon economy by aiding the development of sustainable and resilient communities in the Midlands, primarily in Laois, Offaly, Longford, Westmeath.
Through intelligent analysis and mapping techniques, ReSHAPE will identify and assess the skills of individuals, ensuring a precise alignment with the most suitable education, training, and entrepreneurial supports offered by project partners, providing a comprehensive resource for individuals seeking to enhance their skills and pursue new opportunities.
