He has worked with multi-national manufacturing companies and research gateways obtaining notable experience across the areas of Design Engineering, Project Management, 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Internal Logistics, Production Processes and Strategic Thinking. His biggest and most successful contribution to date was working with lean consultants and managers from Germany on converting a completely paper-based warehousing and parts request system to a paperless system triggered by operator driven visual replenishment.

Currently, Neil manages an engineering project room at MTU and is responsible for equipment maintenance and the purchasing of new equipment along with arranging practical lab classes and replenishing consumable class materials. He also assists with and engages in research projects with the IMaR research gateway and the Circular Bioeconomy research cluster. His primary professional interest relates to industry engagement with academia, the synergies which can develop and the progressive outcomes as a result of the interactions.
