REEdI is proud to collaborate with over 40 valued Industry Partners who contribute across many areas, including content development, site visits, guest lectures, and placement opportunities.
This strong and growing partnership continues to enhance the learning experience for our student engineers, particularly through the commencement of paid work placements for our third-year students.
Together with our partners, we’ve also developed a range of micro-credentials and lifelong learning courses.
Throughout the semester, students have benefited from guest lectures and site visits that provide valuable insight into the engineering industry and help them better understand the opportunities that await them after graduation.
Industry Mentorship Day
We were delighted to host the REEdI Industry Mentorship Training Workshop at the MTU Kerry Campus, where industry professionals gathered to explore best practices in mentoring and supporting student engineers during their two-year work placements. The workshop focused on the role of mentorship in applied learning, workplace integration, and graduate success. It was a valuable day of shared insights and collaboration, aimed at strengthening the connection between industry and education and ensuring meaningful support for the next generation of engineers.
Guest Lecturers & Site Visits
At REEdI, connecting classroom learning with real-world industry is a vital part of our approach. Through site visits and guest lectures, students gain valuable exposure to engineering in practice, helping them better understand career paths and workplace expectations.
This year, guest speakers from Astellas including Noor Syed, Peter Cahill and Kevin Byrnes, along with Darren Carthy from Engineers Ireland, shared their industry insights and professional experiences with REEdI student engineers.
Students also took part in several site visits to leading companies including Liebherr, Sanmina, Kostal, Samco and Alps Alpine. In addition, REEdI was represented at an Engineers Ireland An Riocht (Kerry Region) visit to Lufthansa Technik Turbine Shannon, where members gained an in-depth look at precision work in the aviation sector.
These industry engagements continue to build confidence, spark curiosity and highlight the real-world impact of engineering education.
Connect with MTU

The REEdI team had a fantastic time at Connect with MTU, where we engaged with industry leaders, academic collaborators, and community partners to share our vision for the future of engineering education. The event provided a valuable platform to highlight our focus on innovative student placements, cutting-edge research collaborations, and the development of industry-ready graduates. We’re excited about the new partnerships formed and the opportunities that lie ahead. A big thank you to everyone who connected with us – we’re looking forward to building on the momentum!
Offshore Wind 2025 Conference
As part of our REEdI 2.0 expansion, the REEdI team was delighted to attend Wind Energy Ireland’s Offshore Wind 2025 conference, engaging with key players in Ireland’s renewable energy sector.
Sean O’Connor represented REEdI@MTU at the event, highlighting Munster Technological University’s commitment to shaping engineering education that meets the evolving skills needs of Ireland’s offshore wind industry. The conference provided a valuable platform to share our vision and explore how the REEdI Framework can support the growth of this critical sector.
We’re excited about the connections made and look forward to expanding the REEdI Framework to support Ireland’s offshore wind future.
