Inspiring community-led solutions through creativity, collaboration, and STEAM.

The STEAM Powered Action for Sustainable Futures project is a collaboration between REEdI at MTU and IKC3, funded by Research Ireland. It aims to empower communities and not-for-profit organisations to take meaningful action on the sustainability challenges they encounter in their everyday lives.

Project Aims

  • 600 public contributions to shape sustainability priorities
  • 10 Blocks4Change workshops using LEGO® Serious Play® to tackle real-world sustainability challenges.
  • STEAM Strategies Booklet to share practical community-based solutions

Public Consultation

Throughout the summer, 600 members of the public in Co. Kerry will contribute their ideas, concerns, and priorities around sustainability through community engagement activities. These insights will help shape the focus of the workshops, ensuring that the strategies developed are grounded in real, community-identified challenges and opportunities for a more sustainable future.

Blocks4Change Workshops – Building a Sustainable Future, Brick by Brick

This project will deliver 10 Blocks4Change workshops, each welcoming up to 12 participants from local volunteer, community and not-for-profit groups. These free, expert-led sessions use LEGO® Serious Play® to explore sustainability through hands-on model-making, reflective group discussions, and the co-creation of STEAM-based strategies. The workshops offer an inclusive and creative space where every voice is heard and valued.

STEAM Strategies Booklet

The project will culminate in the production of a STEAM Strategies Booklet, capturing the ideas, insights, and solutions developed during the workshops. This resource will share practical, community-driven approaches to sustainability and serve as a guide for others looking to implement STEAM-based actions in their own communities.
